PROFILE

Minnick Hills Vineyard has really become a special vineyard in our hearts. Having all 5 Bordeaux varietals finally together brings this Vineyard and Wine together in full circle. We were excited to be working with these wines separate but once we put them together they really hit all the notes. Minnick Hills has always been an amazing testament to what Walla Walla Valley can do and this wine definitely shows why.
TASTING NOTE

A beautifully deep ruby color in the glass, our Minnick Hills Merlot begins with aromas of currant, red berries, complex floral notes and hints of fresh herbs and graphite. In the mouth you experience a lovely medium-bodied structure with refined tannins and balance. Red fruits abound and lead into the precise finish. A great wine to enjoy with steak, or other grilled meats and vegetables.

MINNICK HILLS VINEYARD
The south-facing slope, at 1150 ft elevation, is higher than most vineyards in Walla Walla, and perfectly suited to soaking up the warm sun while simultaneously drawing a welcoming breeze that creates good air circulation through the vines. The soils are a sought-after combination of Mt. Mazama volcanic ash content, with windblown loess; this provides deep, extremely well-drained soils. The good drainage means we don’t have to worry so much about early frost and this allows for longer hang-time in the fall, giving the grapes time to fully ripen. The vines here are healthy and vigorous; important so that the full canopy can protect the grapes from the scalding Eastern Washington sun, again allowing for slow, even ripening.
